Providing a mix of new houses and flats for rent, shared ownership and sale as well as a new community centre and retail space, the regeneration of the Havelock Estate received outline permission for the demolition of 695 homes to replace with 922 new homes, whilst retaining 154 of the existing homes. This includes 367 affordable social rent homes, 121 intermediate tenure homes and 434 new market sales homes. Combined, this will result in 1,076 homes across the site.
In addition the scheme will provide training opportunities including apprenticeships in construction and community facilities to create activities and opportunities for young people.
The regeneration includes:
- 922 new homes
- 367 affordable social rent homes
- 121 intermediate tenure homes
- A new community and retail space
Our team prepared a hybrid planning application comprising an outline masterplan including details for phase 1 for the regeneration which received planning consent in 2013. Work has now begun onsite and the scheme is expected to be completed by 2025.
Havelock Estate has recently won an award at the WhatHouse? Awards. The awards celebrate the very best residential development in the UK from the past year. Judges praise developers who demonstrate a commitment to the inner city and urban renewal, or rural regeneration, including new build on derelict land and refurbishment of existing housing stock.
