This is a project that seeks to regenerate the heart of an existing Estate at Ingestre Road, Camden. The scheme replaces an existing council run care home on the site which was closed in 2012 when it was consolidated with a new facility in the borough. The proposals are for 50 later living apartments, with excellent provision of communal facilities including a restaurant, café, salon, gym, a variety of flexible club and activity rooms as well as high quality outdoor courtyards at ground and first floor level.
The context of the existing estate was very challenging due to its Radburn type layout and topography. The proposals were presented and discussed with Camden’s Design Review Panel on three occasions, and at the third review the amendments to the design strategy were welcomed by the panel. This ongoing engagement with officers and the DRP in Camden has resulted in a high-quality scheme with appropriate massing and architectural language.
