FOR THIS TO HAPPEN
Without outside help we will not be able to find suitable or enough land on which to relocate and to have the kind of facilities we’ll need if we are to again play our first team matches in a higher league, which will sustain our future plans for the community.
The Club has been involved in early discussions with our current landlord the Blenheim Estate and we are very encouraged to hear that there might be an ideal solution for our club. Blenheim Estate has indicated that there is an opportunity for the Club to move to a single site to the east of Woodstock. Here we could play all our training and competitive matches, build a new clubhouse and provide enough floodlighting.
None of this could happen unless it is part of a larger project which would include houses on adjoining land (see plan) and to the north of Marlborough School which is owned by the Estate. Building houses in these locations could also generate additional funding for the Club to help build some of our new facilities (in addition to the part funding we could receive from the Football Association / Sports Lottery, club fundraising etc).
We believe this is all possible because the District Council has previously considered land to the east of Woodstock as being potentially suitable for housing. By including facilities for our Club in any future proposals for housing it would be more focussed on the needs of the local community and reduce the amount of other development.
