We are delighted to announce a new partnership, formed at the beginning of this year, between Barton Willmore and Contact Consulting, which offers a unique and robust approach to demonstrating need.
Despite the national housing crisis, the provision of housing for the elderly and specifically the understanding of need and how this provision can help the wider crisis, remains a huge hurdle for any scheme in this sector. Despite calls from ARCO and many others from across the sector, the calculation and inclusion of need within local plans remains woeful.
Since 1995, Nigel Appleton of Contact Consulting has pioneered an approach to the assessment of need for this sector. He is widely recognised as an expert in this field, regularly leading expert witness representations and feeding into government activity and guidance.
As such, we are delighted to be combining the skills of Nigel and his team, with those of our Development Economics team, led by James Donagh, to offer the best opportunities for all our clients in this sector.
Positioned alongside our wider Development Economics offering spanning housing need, economic, social and health and wellbeing value assessments, we'll provide the evidence required to plan for and deliver appropriate housing typologies where they are needed. Our data and insights can be used from the earliest stages of a proposal, to forecast and inform need, support allocated sites and planning applications, and also as required, to provide robust and well-respected ‘expert witness’ support at appeal.
Get in touch with James, who is leading this new service to discuss your project, or to join us as we look to drive the debate sector-wide.
