Greg Dickson

Planning Director

Greg Dickson is a Planning Partner in our Manchester office and has varied private sector experience including promotion of major housing developments, strategic town centre, education and mixed-use and commercial development.

Greg has successfully acted as lead consultant on a range of major regeneration projects. Recent examples include the new School of Digital Arts (SODA) for Manchester Metropolitan University, driving forward proposals estate renewal in Pendleton (Salford) and leading the planning and consultation workstreams for the Wirral Growth Company (WGC) in relation to the 15 year masterplan for the transformation of Birkenhead town centre. Greg orchestrated and managed the public consultation process WGC, including the creation of a pop-up shop for the general public, presentations to Members and targeted meetings (face to face and online) with interest groups, stakeholders and the media. The hybrid planning application for 1.5m square feet of redevelopment of Birkenhead (including full EIA) was submitted in late 2020 and was approved in Spring 2021.  

In addition, Greg also successfully gained planning permission for leisure led development at the Metquarter in Liverpool and is advising Liverpool John Moores University on the development of three major sites (including the phased redevelopment of Copperas Hill to provide a Student Hub and Sports Building) as part of their campus masterplanning.

Across his career Greg has also led a number of transport related development projects, including the preparation of airport masterplans, promotion of a Development Consent Order and logistics developments that require environment impact assessments. He has extensive experience of Compulsory Purchase Orders (advising both Acquiring Authorities as well as Objectors/Claimants) and plays an active role in the activities of the Compulsory Purchase Association. He is also a member of the National Infrastructure Planning Association.
